Alfred M. Green Delivered Speech - 847 Words
Alfred M. Green delivered a speech during the first month of the Civil War that addressed the issue of African Americans enlisting in the Union Army. Green believed that African Americans deserved the opportunity to prove their value to the Union. Throughout his speech, Green persuades black people to enlist in the military using an appeal to their emotions and logic. It is important to note first that Alfred M. Green is an African American speaking to other African Americans. If it were a white person trying to convince black people to join the army the speech would not have been nearly as compelling. Green calls them his ââ¬Å"brethrenâ⬠because they have shared common experience. Green is hoping that African Americans will listen to him because he is able to relate to his audience. He creates his speech in a way that shows the issues he is concerned about are ones all African Americans should share. His repetitive use of possessive pronouns, such as ââ¬Å"ourâ⬠and â â¬Å"usâ⬠make the speech more personal. It proves that he and all other African americans are in this together. The opening of Greenââ¬â¢s speech involves calling on the cultural pride and patriotism of African Americans. He commands his listeners to ââ¬Å"give evidenceâ⬠of the ââ¬Å"bravery and patriotismâ⬠that he knows black people possess. He challenges black people to prove to ââ¬Å"the worldââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬â¢ their ââ¬Å"love of country, freedom and civil and religious tolerationâ⬠The tone he uses is daring African American to do more than stand by and doShow MoreRelatedThis Tournament Goes to Eleven4982 Words à |à 20 Pagescollection of childrens stories by Rudyard Kipling. To advance physical and intellectual competence Essay Example
To advance physical and intellectual competence Paper To advance physical and intellectual competence I provide various amounts of equipment and activities that help promote the physical development of children. I do this by offering activities that will allow children to use their small muscles and large muscles. Children need these types of activities so they can become familiar about how to use their muscles and to develop body strength. Activities such as throwing things, rolling balls, moving arms up and down will help children gain upper body strength. Activities such as jumping, running and balancing themselves will help them gain strength in the lower parts of their bodies. These activities allow them to work with their gross motor skills. Activities such as painting, puzzles, writing, coloring and typing on the keyboard allows them to use their fine motor skills. I encourage children to use their cognitive skills. I do this by having children think about how to solve problems rather than simply asking a question and receiving an answer. For example, children asked ââ¬Å"what happens if we bring snow into the classroom? â⬠The children brought snow into the classroom to see if the snow stays the same or will it melt. We then discussed what happened and why it happened. In my classroom cognitive skills are used on a daily basis. I also encourage children to be creative. Children should have access to materials such as markers, crayons, paint, pencils, and paper. By having these materials accessible will allow them to explore and be creative. I play many types of music including music in different languages. Playing music encourages them to dance and that is also a way for children to use their gross motor skills. In my classroom I help children learn and understand how to properly communicate by using words. I do this by encouraging children to talk with their peers and I converse with the children as well. I will ask children about their work and encourage them to explain in detailed sentences. After reading a story I give each child a chance to ask a question. Placing labels around the classrooms is very important because children will begin to match the words with the objects. I read books that introduce new vocabulary to children so that children can learn and use new words. I feel confident that I offer great opportunities to advance physical and intellectual competence in children.

For the period until 1992, with all the recognition (construction of buildings, establishment of services, involvement of a number of protà ©gà ©s in the work of several workshops, occasional organisation of successful cultural and sports manifestations and meetings with users of similar institutions etc.) it would be a sad picture depicting the conditions of everyday life of children. Now, within the last 6-7 years a marvellous paradox has been happening: during the severest social crisis the unseen rise is recorded, as well as transformation and achievements in all conditions and aspects of work of the Institute and in the life of children in general. The Institute has grown into one of the most representative institutions of this kind in the country, according to the level of material and expert equipment, organisation and rich contents and the atmosphere in work and life. Should gay couples be Able to marry - Essay Example It is an abnormal attitude no doubt, but this abnormality is found at noticeable rate in several developing as well as developed societies. Because of this homosexual attraction, people are found searching legality to legalize the activity. However according to several schools of thoughts the upshots of this practice are different but still questionable. When two males are indulged in the said practice, it is known as gayââ¬â¢s marriage whereas when two females are found in the same state of physical relationship, it is called lesbian marriage. Throughout the paper, here is the several aspects of gay marriage will be discussed briefly including religion, legality, socialism etc. Christian sexual ethics are referred as controversial so far. There are two famous beliefs of Christianity i.e., Catholicism and Protestantism. However both of them are interrelated to each other. The primarily components to form the religion are not more heterogeneous. As far as sexual beliefs concerned, there are many interpretations found such that it has taken a shape of unanswered in a satisfactory manner. The bible reveals that love should be paid to different than one. This indicates heterogeneity in sexual ethics because it is the natural way which is prescribed by God in His revelation. DISCUSSION BOARD PART 2-2 - Essay Example These requirements include the literature must be peer reviewed, organized chronologically, recent (3-5 years old), compare and contrast different points of view among others. My study being a qualitative study, I perceive this as a challenge in that many studies are quantative in nature. In this regard, I have to go through so much literature against limited time, to compare and contrast my thinking with others. The second challenge that can come from this research is few respondents. A qualitative research requires considerable skill and little direction. According to smith et al, qualitative research has a high dross rate because of participants digressing form the main issue (Smith et al, 2008). When collecting data in a mixed cultural set up, some individuals may be unwilling to respond or give information asked. This will result in a bias because I have to reselect the sample. A challenge may arise on meeting respondents that cannot speak the languages I speak because this prev ents an open dialogue because. A third challenge is meeting a doctoral chair from the faculty that suits my interests and learning schedule. To ensure competency in this research I have set aside time to study and do research to ensure that I can make correct contrasts and comparisons. I have researched for a good research question to propel this study, stated the research design well, and identified the method as qualitative. Already I have started working on research questions that are short, prompting, and structured. The choice of questions has taken into account three challenges earlier stated, reducing any bias in the study. A successful student doctoral study chair relationship is critical. Building a relationship with the chair requires a student first to communicate regularly through emails, especially during the first few weeks after approval. Checking with the chair with the preferred means of
